Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after the North East elections said that despite the party's entry in Meghalaya just six months ago, TMC managed to get 15 per cent vote share. She also added that it is not BJP's victory in Meghalaya.

"I congratulate the people of Meghalaya. We just started six months ago and we have got 15 percent votes. It will help for our national party status. We are the principal opposition. Next time we will do better,” said Banerjee in a press meet in Kolkata.

TMC had bagged five seats in Meghalaya, while they were unable to open an account in Tripura.

She said that there was some confusion in Meghalaya due to the similar names in of the party. “Some people got confused TMC with Congress party as they both have Congress in it. But we will work to fix the confusion,” she said.

On Congress winning the assembly seat from ruling Trinamool in Bengal's Sardighi election, she said that all have played the communal card.

“BJP, Congress and CPI(M) all are together. All are playing communal card. TMC can fight these three forces all alone. We did this in 2021 as well. TMC will alliance with people in 2024. We'll not go with any other political party. We'll fight alone with people's support,” she said West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

"BJP has played it openly, but CPM and the Congress have played it to a greater extent,” she added.

In 2021, TMC became one of the main opposition party in Meghalaya when they had poached former chief minister Mukul Sangma along with 11 other Meghalaya MLAs from Congress.

The internal survey of the party had projected 12 seats in Meghalaya this time.

TMC is working on a national strategy for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

"We should not listen to CPM or the Congress. We cannot ally with them,"

"Those who want to defeat BJP, I believe they will vote for us..Trinamool Congress is enough to fight these three forces together. We have done that in 2021 Bengal assembly elections, we will do it again. There is no need to worry," she said.
