Madhya Pradesh: Over 500 prominent industrialists confirm attendance to Global Investors' Summit

Delegations from 65 foreign countries, over 5000 industry reps register for the event

The Madhya Pradesh government is looking ahead to a buzzing interaction with prospective investors with over 500 prominent industrialists and foreign delegations of 65 countries set to attend the seventh edition of the 'Invest Madhya Pradesh – Global Investors' Summit' (GIS) scheduled at commercial capital Indore on January 11 and 12.

“Prominent among the 500 industrialists who have confirmed presence are Kumar Mangalam Birla, Noel Tata, Nadir Godrej, Puneet Dalmia and Ajay Piramal,” a government note said.

What is making the annual GIS special is that it is scheduled on the back of the Pravasi Bharatiya Day convention, also to be held in Indore from January 8 to 10. The GIS will also be a 'carbon neutral' and 'zero waste' event.

The theme of the GIS this year is 'Madhya Pradesh: Future Ready State' and the state government is seeking to showcase the growth potential, investment climate and infrastructure of the state to potential investors.

The response has been encouraging and as on December 31, more than 5,000 industrialists and industry representatives had registered for the summit. The registration is continuing.

Also, the government has received more than 450 requests from leading industries for one-to-one meetings with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state ministers and officials.

Participation is expected from leading names in various sectors such as pharma, IT, automobiles, textiles, garments, chemicals, cement, food processing, logistics, petrochemicals, tourism, renewable energy, services and others.

In the International pavilion, nine partner countries and 14 international trade organizations will showcase various aspects of their countries. Through this summit, exporters from Madhya Pradesh will get an oppourtunity to connect with prospective foreign buyers.

Other major objectives of the event are to showcase the industrial ecosystem of the state, promote the state policies, consultation with industrial organizations to formulate industry-friendly policies, collaboration oppourtunities, promotion of export potential and buyer-seller meets and vendor development.

To ensure the success of the event, a number of pre-events were held. Chief minister Chouhan chaired the roadshows conducted in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru for inviting investors to the state. In addition to this, he also interacted with potential overseas investors in countries like UK and US virtually and extended his invitation to the summit.

Key events

Some of the key activities of the GIS will be Business to Business (B2B) meetings that will provide a platform to industries for collaboration, business-related partnerships, product exchange, different services and related information, the government-to-business (G2B) meetings where private sector industries will be able to discuss various opportunities and collaborations with the government.

“Buyer-Seller Meet is being organized to help the MSMEs of the state to reach the global market and to promote exports from the state. This mainly includes buyers from the USA, Canada, England, Japan, Israel, Netherlands, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Bangladesh and African countries,” the government note said.

More than 1,500 exporters of the State from different sectors such as pharmaceutical, textile, engineering, agri and IT services will ensure their participation.

Sectoral Sessions

During the two-day summit, 19 different sector-specific sessions will be organized with industry captains of different fields, industrialists and senior officials of the concerned ministries of the government of India. Invitations have also been sent by the respective state government departments to the potential investors of different sectors.

Exhibition

The exhibition will have a dedicated Madhya Pradesh pavilion which will showcase the industrial infrastructure, existing and upcoming industrial parks, marquee investment projects which are planned and are under implementation in the State. It will also cover State’s various aspects such as heritage, culture, wildlife, natural resources and others.

Leading companies will display their products related to various sectors such as pharma, IT, automobiles, textiles, garments, chemicals, cement, food processing and others.

In an industrial exhibition, stalls will be set up by more than 100 industries to showcase various industrial sectors spread over one lakh square feet and there will also be AI (Artificial Intelligence) robots to inform the participants.

In addition, to showcase cultural richness of the State, a 'cultural zone' will also be created in which local arts such as Gond paintings, Bhil paintings, zari-zardozi, jute, bagh print, batik print, dolls, bamboo art, bell metal craft and handlooms such as Chanderi and Maheshwari etc. will be displayed by the artisans.
