PM Modi on Saturday launched 'Rozgar Mela', the recruitment drive for 10 lakh personnel. During the event, appointment letters will be handed over to more than 75,000 new appointees. 

'Rozgar Mela' to recruit 10 lakh people, an important milestone in government's efforts for employment, and self-employment in the last eight years, said PM Modi during the launch through video conferencing. 

The new recruits from the country will join 38 ministries/departments of the Government of India. 

India is today 5th largest economy in the world. In the last eight years, we have jumped from 10th to 5th position. It's true that many big world economies are struggling with inflation, unemployment and other side effects of the biggest crisis in 100 years, it can't just go away in 100 days, said Modi. 

"Despite this, India, with full force, new initiatives and some risks, has been trying to save itself from the global crisis. We have been able to save ourselves till now with your cooperation. We have, in the last 8yrs, minimized the issues which created obstacles in our economy," said PM Modi. 

Modi added that the Centre's help of more than Rs 3 lakh crore to the MSME sector during the Covid pandemic averted the crisis to over 1.5 crore jobs. 

The government is committed to expanding manufacturing, and tourism sectors too to generate more jobs, he said. 

According to the PMO statement, the appointees will join the government at various levels viz Group A, Group B (Gazetted), Group B (Non-Gazetted) and Group C. "The post on which appoints are being made include Central Armed Force Personel, Sub Inspector, Constable, LDC, Steno, Income Tax Inspectors, MTS, among others," said the statement.
