Congress demands resignation of Kerala minister for controversial remarks on Constitution

Minister Saji Cheriyan says Indian Constitution accepts exploitation

Kerala's Opposition leader V.D.Satheeshan criticised Culture minister Saji Cherian for his controversial comments against Constitution and demanded his resignation.

Satheeshan talking to presspersons asked whether the minister is aware of the greatness of the Indian Constitution. Satheeshan said that chief minister must demand Cheriyan's resignation and he should be removed from the cabinet. 

Criticising the minister, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor tweeted, “Ignorance is clearly no bar when it comes to eligibility for ministerial office in our country! But when this comes from an elected official who has sworn an oath to uphold the very Constitution he is trashing, where does ignorance cross over into something else?” 

BJP State President K.Surendran said that the minister has violated his oath and demanded his resignation. 

Kerala Fisheries and Culture Minister Saji Cherian has kicked up a row criticising the Indian Constitution. The Minister allegedly said that the Indian Constitution accepts exploitation.

The minister, taking part in an event organised by CPI(M) in Pathanamthitta, Kerala criticised the Constitution and said that India does not accept labour protests. He said that the Indian Constitution was written by an Indian as dictated by Britisher. He said that the Indian Constitution accepts exploitation and it is being followed for the past 75 years. Values like secularism, democracy have been written only for namesake in the Constitution and it Constitution has been written to loot people.
