Former Congress leader Jitin Prasada, who had quit the party to join the BJP in 2011, took a dig at former Union minister Kapil Sibal, who resigned from the grand old party and filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha as an independent supported by the Samajwadi Party, on Wednesday.
"How’s the “Prasad” Mr. Sibal!," Prasada tweeted, replying to an old tweet of Sibal.
After Prasada had quit the Congress, Sibal had taken a swipe at him in a tweet, saying, "The question is will he get “ prasada “ from BJP or is he just a ‘catch’ for UP elections."
The question is will he get “ prasada “ from BJP or is he just a ‘catch’ for UP elections ?
In such deals if ‘ideology’ doesn’t matter changeover is easy," the tweet by Sibal had read.
The Congress meanwhile, sought to downplay the resignation of Sibal, with AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal saying eight former MLAs joined the party in Haryana two days ago, and lamented that such fresh developments were not getting prominence. He had also refused to comment on other queries like the implications for the party following Sibal's resignation.
A prominent member of the G23, which had sought an organisational overhaul in the Congress, Sibal's tenure as Congress' Rajya Sabha MP ends in July. "I have filed the nomination as an Independent candidate. I thank Akhileshji for supporting me. I resigned from the Congress on May 16 and am no longer a senior Congress leader" Sibal had said earlier in the day.
