Gujarat Congress working president Hardik Patel, who has been expressing dissatisfaction over the functioning style of the party leaders in the state, removed the party's name from his Twitter bio.

The bio section of the Congress leader on Twitter now says, "Proud Indian Patriot. Social and Political Activist. Committed to a better India."

According to media reports, he also removed the name of Congress from WhatsApp and Telegram bio as well.

Even as he repeatedly clarified that he has no intention to switch sides, there has been speculations that Patel may switch over to the saffron fold. The speculations had gained further weightage when he openly praised the decision making capabilities of the BJP. "We will have to acknowledge that recent political decisions taken by the BJP show that it has a better political decision-making capacity. I believe that without praising it, we can at least acknowledge the truth. If the Congress wants to become strong, it will have to improve its decision-making capacity,” he had said during a recent media interaction.

Patel had, however, trivialised this high praise later, saying he had also praised US President Joe Biden and this does not mean that he would be joining Biden's party.

He had claimed that there are some leaders in the state unit of the Congress who want him to quit the party, and alleged that these leaders were trying to break his morale. "I hope the central leaders find a way so that I continue to remain in the Congress," he had tweeted.

Patel had clarified that he has no complaints against Rahul Gandhi.
