An NCP leader Fahmida Hassan Khan, via letter, is seeking permission to recite Hanuman Chalisa and Namaz outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence. This is being viewed as a tit-for-tat move as the letter comes days after independent MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana said they planned to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Uddhav Thackeray's resident, Matoshree.

In the letter, Fahmida Hassan Khan seeks permission to recite Hanuman Chalisa, Durga Chalisa, Namokar Mantra, Namaz and more outside PM Modi's official residence at Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi. The letter has been addressed to Home Minister Amit Shah's office.

“I’ve asked HM Amit Shah for permission to chant prayers of every religion in front of PM Modi’s residence. If Hindutva, Jainism elevates for the country’s benefit to reduce inflation, unemployment, starvation, I’d like to do it,” Fahmida Hassan Khan told ANI.

Navneet and Ravi Rana, in the meantime, have been slapped with sedition charges and the couple was sentenced to judicial custody for 14 days by a Mumbai court. Navneet Rana is currently in Byculla jail, while her husband Ravi has been moved to Taloja jail in Navi Mumbai.
