UP culture and tourism to be amalgamation of nature, culture and adventure

A memorial for Chattrapati Shivaji to come up in Agra

The path ahead for the state’s culture, religious affairs and tourism departments aligns closely with the electoral road the BJP is taking.

Thus, at Agra, a city best known for the Taj Mahal, a memorial for Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj is to be constructed. It was from Agra that Shivaji had escaped the Mughal Emperor, Aurangzeb who had captured him on the pretence of ratifying an alliance treaty. In September 2020, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had called for re-naming the Mughal museum in the city after the Maratha king.

Other elements of the plan cater to the castes which have newly allied with the BJP. Thus light and sound shows will be held at Nishadraj Qila at Shringverpur and the Maharaja Bijli Pasi Qila. In Bahraich, work on the Maharaja Suheldev Memorial is to be quickened and the memorial is constructed on a scale that makes it a draw nationally.

A combination of nature, culture and adventure that will showcase a new UP in a new India, was the theme of the presentation on the issues of religious affairs, culture and tourism made before the chief minister today.

The CM is currently reviewing presentations by all departments which have to plan for durations of 100 days, six months and a year.

The state is dedicated to early completion of 12 circuits that include the Ramayan, Buddhist, Shaktipeeth, crafts, Krishna/Brij, Bundelkhand, Freedom struggle circuits etc.

Wild life and ecotourism is to be a part of all these circuits.

Celebrations for special days shall no longer be limited to bigger cities but shall also happen in districts, villages and towns.

In the coming 100 days a unified online information system for all mandirs will be completed for the ease of devotees. The information should include description, history and route map.

A board will be constituted to ensure the welfare of old saints, priests and preachers.

‘Bhajan Sandhya sthal’- places for recitation of devotional songs are to be built in Prayagraj, Mathura, Gorakhpur and Varanasi.

The Sri Ramjanmbhoomi Path at Ayodhya, which shall include the way from Hanumangarhi to the janmbhoomi will be made four-lane as quickly as possible.

The protection of local dialects is a focus area for the government. The academies to be set up to protect dialects are Surdas Brijbhasha Academy, Goswami Tulsidas Awadhi Academy, Keshavdas Bundeli Academy and Santkabirdas Bhojpuri Academy. These too are to be set up in the next 100 days.

All 75 districts of the state will have tourism and culture boards to expedite matters.
