After being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Jammu and Kashmir Bank scam, former chief minister Omar Abdullah said the agency did not accuse him of any wrong doings and that he would cooperate with the probe.

"They (ED) did not accuse me of anything. They called me for questioning in connection with an ongoing investigation of a 12-13-year-old case. I answered them as much as I could. I will further help them if they need me," the National Conference leader said.

Omar was interrogated for five and a half hours after he arrived at the federal probe agency's headquarters in Delhi this morning.

The ED had been probing the role of several senior political leaders who opened bank accounts in which alleged irregularities were found during investigation. Illegal transactions, anomalies and inadequate documentation had revealed that money had allegedly been transferred to unauthorised accounts from some of these accounts, which led to charges of misappropriation of funds and money laundering being slapped in the case.

Besides Omar, the alleged role of another former chief minister—Mehbooba Mufti—was also under the scanner in the case.

The National Conference, meanwhile, flayed the questioning of Omar, terming it a "vicious vilification" of the former chief minister and a continued misuse of the Central investigation agency.

"Over recent years we have seen that wherever state elections are due, agencies like the ED move in and target those parties who pose a challenge to the BJP," the party said in a statement.
