Senior Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is misusing central agencies to topple the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra. He said the Enforcement Directorate was targeting family members of the MVA leaders to defame them.

Raut, a Rajya Sabha MP, alleged that some BJP leaders had contacted him to shift allegiance and warned he would have to pay a price for not doing so. “Soon after this, the ED started targeting people close to me,”  he said.

The Shiv Sena fell out with the BJP after the 2019 Maharashtra polls and tied up with the NCP and the Congress to form government.

The Sena MP said the Aghadi leaders would not bow before the BJP's pressure tactics. “If you think we will budge, that is not possible. We have learnt this from late Balasaheb Thackeray,” he said.

Refuting allegations that the Thackeray family owns 19 bungalows in Korlai in the Raigad district, Raut said: “If you can prove that the Thackeray family has bungalows in Korlai, I will quit politics.”

Raut further alleged that a conspiracy is afoot to topple governments in Maharashtra, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
