Schools and colleges will resume physical classes in Jammu and Kashmir from today in a phased manner.  “All summer zone schools in J&K shall open in a phased manner. Classes from 9th to 12th can commence routine offline teaching from 14/02/2022,’’ according to the order issued by Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta. "All students of the 15-17 age group coming to attend regular offline classes must carry a vaccination certificate with them.”

According to the order, all the universities, colleges, polytechnics and ITIs in J&K will commence routine offline teaching from February 14. The order said, in summer zone(Jammu), classes from 9th standard will reopen from February 14, and junior classes from February 21.

"Head of Institutions shall be responsible for adherence to Covid appropriate behaviour in their respective schools and prepare proper plans for the same," the order said.

It said that offline teaching for all classes of winter zone schools, including Kashmir Valley, shall commence after February 28.

It also said that screening of symptomatic students shall be done and their testing ensured to contain any possibility of spread of the virus in the institutions.

The government has allowed offline coaching centres for civil services, engineering and NEET under the condition that the teachers and students are fully vaccinated. "The heads should ensure due precautions such as CAB and adherence to SOPs," it said.

Educational institutions in Kashmir were shut after the revocation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, when a security and communication lockdown was imposed on Jammu and Kashmir. In March 2020, when schools were expected to reopen after winter vacation, the country-wide lockdown due to pandemic prevented educational institutions from resuming work.
