The Kerala government is set to take an historic decision in support of gender neutrality. The Kerala Police would soon start recruiting transgenders.
The state government has asked the ADGP (law and order) to give a report on how the new decision can be implemented effectively.
The government sought the opinion of the police mainly on how to go about in the matter of recruitment and training of transgenders in the police. The government also wanted to know in which areas they can be posted.
DGP Anil Kant had entrusted the police intelligence chief with the task of codifying the opinion of the top police officers on the matter for submitting it to the government. The stand of the police on the matter would be decided at the meeting of the ADGPs.
