Fresh controversy brewed on Saturday after an application named 'Bulli Bai' made its rounds on GitHub repository service, featuring photos of Indian Muslim women and reportedly "auctioning" them off. This comes on the back of a similar controversy in ‘Sulli deals’, where Muslim women photos were uploaded for "auction".
The Delhi Police, on Sunday, registered an FIR under IPC 509 on the complaint of a woman journalist alleging she is being targeted as part of 'Bulli Bai'. The FIR has been registered in Cyber Police station of the South East district.

IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had tweeted that the Bulli Bai app creator had been blocked. "GitHub confirmed blocking the user this morning itself. CERT and police authorities are coordinating further action," Vaishnaw tweeted.
This had come in response to a tweet by Shiv Sena spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi: "I have repeatedly asked Hon. IT Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw ji to take stern action against such rampant misogyny and communal targeting of women through #sullideals like platforms. A shame that it continues to be ignored."
Mumbai Police said they have taken cognisance of the matter and that concerned officials have been asked to take action. Mumbai cyber police have initiated probe in connection with the objectionable content.
Other opposition leaders like Karti Chidambaram, Shashi Tharoor had come out against 'Bulli Bai'.
