Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy's Yuvajan Sramika Rythu (YSR) Congress has swept the Andhra Pradesh local body polls. The results were announced on Sunday. The party won close to 90 per cent of the Mandal Parishads Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) and a staggering 99 per cent of the Zilla Parishads Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs), NDTV reported.

The elections were conducted on April 8 for 515 ZPTCs and 7,220 MPTCs. The poll results were delayed as the Andhra Pradesh High Court stalled the counting over petitions filed by the Telugu Desam Party and the BJP.

Reddy thanked the people of Andhra Pradesh for the massive victory. "By the grace of God and people's blessings this massive victory has become possible. This increased my responsibility towards every single person and family in this state for showering all the love and support," he tweeted.

"I would once again express my gratitude to everyone in the state through a video message on Monday morning after the final results of MPTC and ZPTC come out," he added.
