The last date for submitting nominations for Padma Awards 2022 is September 15, the government said on Wednesday, adding that the nominations are received online only.

Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Sri are the top civilian honours in the country and these awards are announced on the occasion of the Republic Day, 2022.

“The government is committed to transform Padma Awards into ‘People’s Padma’. All citizens are therefore requested to identify talented persons whose excellence and achievements really deserve to be recognized from amongst women, SC/STs, divyang persons and who are doing selfless service to society and make their nominations/recommendations,” the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement.

The nomination should contain all relevant details specified in the format available on the Padma Portal, including a citation in narrative form, clearly bringing out the distinguished and exceptional achievements/service of the person recommended in his or her respective field.

“Further details in this regard are also available under the heading 'Awards and Medals' on the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs,” the MHA said.
