A junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Indian Army and a militant were killed while two soldiers were injured in an encounter at Thanamandi in Rajouri in Jammu on Thursday.
Sources said the JCO was killed after the Army engaged the militants in an encounter.
He was rushed to the nearest medical facility, but he succumbed to his injuries. The encounter took place at Karyote Kalas area during a search operation by the security forces after suspicious movement was noticed in the area on Wednesday evening.

In the morning, when the security forces were combing, they came under fire from the militants, triggering an encounter.
Reinforcements were rushed to the spot to prevent the militants from escaping.
