PM Modi's adviser Amarjeet Sinha quits before completion of his two-year term

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's adviser Amarjeet Sinha has resigned on Monday. 

According to media reports, Sinha, who was appointed for a term of two years, resigned seven months ahead of the completion of his tenure.

Sinha, a 1983 batch IAS officer of Bihar cadre, was appointed advisor to the prime minister in February 2020. Sinha had retired as the secretary of department of rural development before his appointment as the prime minister's advisor.

There has been no official statement from the prime minister’s office (PMO) over the resignation, neither has Sinha offered a reason for the move.

Earlier, in March, another official in the PMO had resigned. P.K. Sinha, who was the principal advisor to the prime minister, resigned before the completion of his tenure.
