Controversial BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has chosen to mark the 30th death anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi by highlighting allegations against the late leader.
Bagga is the spokesperson of the BJP's Delhi unit and had unsuccessfully contested in the 2020 Assembly polls.
On Thursday night and Friday morning, Bagga shared on his Twitter handle multiple posters that claimed 'Rajiv Gandhi The father of mob lynching'. The posters allude to Rajiv Gandhi's alleged inaction during the anti-Sikh riots in 1984. In 2018, Bagga had created a stir by affixing the same posters in parts of Delhi, inviting criticism from the Congress.
In 2018, Bagga attributed his decision to put up the posters following Rahul Gandhi's statement that the Congress was not involved in the anti-Sikh riots. Rahul was president of the Congress at that time.
Then Bagga had told The Indian Express, “After what Rahul Gandhi said about the 1984 riots, it was important to give him a history lesson. He should know his father was the producer/director of the 1984 massacre. Leaders involved still hold senior positions in the party, so how can he make such a statement. After 2014, for any incident, Congress has given a new word, ‘mob lynching’, but this was started by Rajiv Gandhi long back."
It is yet unclear if the posters were put up anywhere this time or whether old images were shared.
On Friday morning, Bagga tweeted about the "legacies" of Rajiv Gandhi. He wrote, "Leave English now talk about Rajiv Gandhi Legacies. Rajiv Gandhi Legacy is Murder of thousands of Sikh. Rajiv Gandhi Legacy is Bhopal Gas Kaand. Rajiv Gandhi Legacy is Killing of Tamil Hindus.

Interestingly, the first line of Bagga's tweet on Rajiv Gandhi's legacies appeared to be a reference to his criticism of Sonia Gandhi's request to the government on Thursday to provide free education to children whose parents had died of COVID-19.
Bagga had singled out the phrase "One of my husband Rajiv Gandhi's...." to troll Sonia. However, Bagga ended up being trolled heavily, with social media users mocking his knowledge of English.
