West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has almost retained her last cabinet after the formation of her third ministry. However, the portfolios have been changed.

Amit Mishra retained the finance ministry while he gave away the ministry of industries to Partha Chatterjee. Chatterjee was the first industries minister under Banerjee's cabinet in 2011. But, that was later handed over to Mitra with Chatterjee being made the education minister.

Famous thespian Bratya Basu will be the new education minister of the state.

Subrata Mukherjee has retained the ministry of panchayat and rural development while Firhad Hakim has become the new transport minister of Bengal. Hakim used to be the urban development minister, which has now gone to Chandrima Bhattacharya.

A total of 43 ministers were sworn-in with three of them taking oath virtually owing to age or unhealthiness.

Surprisingly, Madan Mitra has not been made a minister. Around 13 ministers from the previous cabinet have been dropped. Humayun Kabir, former IPS officer, has been made cabinet minister.

Tribal leader Birbaha Soren and cricketer Manoj Tiwari have also made it to the cabinet.

Meanwhile, Suvendu Adhikary, who defeated Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram, will be the leader of the opposition. Senior-most MLA Mukul Roy proposed Adhikary's name and he was chosen unanimously.
