The sleazy CD sex scandal in Karnataka is witnessing many twists. A fortnight after the sex CD allegedly involving BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi and a woman surfaced and went viral on social media, a man claiming to be the father of the woman in the CD has lodged a complaint alleging that his daughter has been abducted by unknown persons in Bengaluru and that the family fears for her safety.
On Tuesday, the Belagavi police registered a case of abduction as the complainant stated she had been abducted from her hostel in the state capital, and the unidentified men have threatened, sexually harassed and tortured the woman and created obscene videos of the woman and shared it.
While the police has registered a complaint under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping), 368, 343, 346 (wrongful confinement), 354 (assault) and 506 (criminal intimidation), the family has allegedly released a video asking the government and the police to trace their daughter.
In the complaint, the father has stated that his 25-year-old daughter works in a software company in Bengaluru. On the day the CD surfaced, he had called his daughter and she had told him that it was her morphed picture and videos, and she was innocent. She also said that she was safe and would return home only after the CD is proved as fake. A few days later, when the family called her, she sounded tense.
“She told us she was not in a position to reveal anything and did not know where she had been taken to. She said she would come home and tell us everything. We waited for her to return, and a few days back we saw her video, where she spoke about her suicide attempt and the family contemplating suicide. We suspect she has been abducted and is under pressure to give such statements. Her mobile phone has been switched off since the last 7-8 days,” said the father, an ex-serviceman (who now works in a bank), in his complaint.
Meanwhile, the special investigation team probing into the complaint filed by former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, recorded his statement at his Sadashivanagar residence.
According to police sources, Jarkiholi has told the investigators that a gang which is into blackmailing and extortion had threatened to release a sleazy CD and demanded money. The Gokak MLA had yielded to their demand and paid them some money fearing loss of reputation. But the blackmailing continued and when he refused pay any more money, they released a fake CD to the media and uploaded it on social media to finish him politically. The complainant also expressed suspicion that the gang had bargained for huge money from his political opponents to tarnish his image.
