The girl, who had reportedly been studying for her first-year PUC (equivalent to Class 11), died by suicide by hanging herself at her house after leaving behind a note.

A shocking incident has come to light, in which a minor in the Katipalla area of the Dakshina Kannada district near Surathkal died by suicide on Tuesday, leaving behind a note with serious allegations.

The girl, who had reportedly been studying for her first-year PUC (equivalent to Class 11), died by suicide by hanging herself at her house after leaving behind a note, penned in Tulu.

"Mom, I have done wrong ... forgive me. I can't live anymore," she wrote in the note, alleging that she was betrayed by a young man named Anish Poojary in the name of love.

The note further claimed that the Bantwal-based Anish Poojary had got her pregnant under the pretext of love, and then abandoned her.

"Hindu organisations did not help me. The person who cheated me is comfortable," she further alleged in the note, as per an Asianet Suvarna News report.

"I don't want another girl's life to be ruined," she had added in the note written before the tragedy took place after her return from college.

The incident has shocked her family, with her father filing an FIR with the Surathkal Police under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012.

The police is now on the hunt for Poojary, who is currently absconding, and are also investigating all of the allegations made by the deceased against him in the suicide note.

The police have said doctors informed them that the alleged pregnancy could only be confirmed after the postmortem examination. They have also sought preservation of the foetus, if possible, for a DNA examination.

As the probe continues, news of the shocking incident has spread throughout the coastal areas, sparking sorrow and debate.
