The speaker adjourned the session sine die after declaring motion had been defeated
In dramatic developments after Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy moved a confidence motion in favour of his government on Monday morning, the speaker of the Puducherry Assembly announced the motion had been defeated, meaning the Congress-DMK government had fallen.
Narayanasamy gave a defiant speech noting the three nominated BJP MLAs did not have voting rights. Narayanasamy and his MLAs walked out after this.
The speaker adjourned the session sine die after declaring the motion brought by Narayanasamy had been defeated.
The Narayanasamy government had fallen into a minority after two more Congress MLAs resigned on Sunday, taking the Congress-DMK coalition’s numbers below that of the opposition.
