Era of dynastic rule is over in J&K: Tarun Chug

Chug said the NC and the PDP have looted Jammu and Kashmir’s resources

BJP’s national general secretary Tarun Chug on Saturday said the growing popularity of BJP in Jammu and Kashmir has made the 'Gupkar gang' nervous and time for ‘dynastic rule’ is over.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Chug accused the NC and the PDP of having looted Jammu and Kashmir’s resources through dynastic rule.

He said rather than talking about China, Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti should campaign for retrieval of Kashmir under Pakistan. “They should talk about how Kashmir which is under the illegal control of Pakistan can be retrieved,” he said.

He said for the first time District Development Council (DDC) polls are being held in J&K. “I am glad that people are coming out in large numbers to vote for the candidates who come from villages and ground zero,’’ he said. He said this is an indication that time for dynasty politics is over now in J&K.

“Dynasty leaders, who till yesterday, fought against each other and were arch rivals, are today against BJP,’’ he said. “This is because they are feeling unnerved by BJP's growing popularity.” Chug replaced Ram Madhav as BJP’s general secretary in September.  Flanked by BJP leader and minister Shahnawaz Hussain, party national spokesman and Rajya Sabha MP Syed Zafar Islam, he said if one compares Mumbai and Hyderabad of the 60s with Srinagar and Jammu, the difference is obvious.

He said the twin capitals of the Union Territory will witness lot development and the difference will be visible.

He said corruption and nepotism under dynasty rule stymied the progress of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Late Mufti Muhammad Sayed spoke against corruption when he took over as chief minister but never acted against NC’s big fish,” he said.

Attacking Mehboob said her daughter sits in New Delhi and tweets about “this and that”. “Why should sons of others pick up arms?’’ he asked.
