A 90-year-old man beat COVID-19 in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district.

The nonagenarian, identified as Rameshwar Chaudhary, was discharged from Aurobindo Hospital in Indore on Wednesday, say media reports.

Staff members of the hospital and the family members of the man showered flower petals on him while an young girl performed aarti on him after he came out of the hospital.

The recovery of the nonagenarian comes as a huge relief as the elderly are more prone to the virus.

According to a Times of India report, the man thanked the doctors and medical staff who provided him with the best treatment and kept him motivated to beat the pandemic.

Besides, he also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the recovery. "I have won the battle against COVID-19 and now I am returning home. I would like to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for taking effective measures to combat the infection," NDTV quoted him as saying.

Madhya Pradesh has so far recorded over 7,000 COVID-19 cases and as many as 505 deaths due to the virus. The number of cases in Indore, the worst-hit district in the state, had jumped to over 3,100.
