Gujarat will implement lockdown 4.0 from Tuesday after deciding on the containment and non-containment zones in the state. The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani late on Sunday evening.

In a televised address to the masses after the meeting, Rupani said that a meeting will be held on Monday and collectors and municipal commissioners will give the list of containment and non-containment zones to the state government to finalise it.

Rupani said that there won't be any relaxation in the containment zones. However, people will continue to get essential commodities in these areas.

The state government will also frame rules and lay down standard operating procedures for implementing lockdown 4.0.

Rupani also said that in the zones outside containment areas, industries will be allowed to operate.

While curfew will be imposed in the entire state from 7pm to 7am, transportation will be made available, albeit with social distancing. City bus service will also remain operational in non-containment areas.

His address also gave a ray of hope to shopkeepers and office-goers. Rupani said that the modalities are being worked out, on which the shops will be allowed to remain open in non-containment zones. He indicated that some shops might remain open on alternate days to avoid rush.

Scooters and autorickshaws will be allowed to operate in non-containment zones with certain rules.

Rupani also announced that a fine of Rs 200 will be levied across the state on people who do not wear mask, or spit in public places.

Restaurants will remain closed but home deliveries by them will be allowed.

He, however, did not mention anything about cinema halls, multiplexes and malls.

Rupani appealed to the people in the containment zones to help in surveillance and urged them to aim at making their areas green zones at the earliest.
