COVID-19: BJP leader Vasundhara Raje, son Dushyant Singh go into self quarantine

They had attended a party hosted by singer Kanika Kapoor who had tested positive

BJP leader and former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and her son MP Dushyant Singh was among the many who attended a recent party hosted by Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor who has been tested positive for coronavirus.

Following reports of the singer being tested positive for COVID-19, Raje took to Twitter to announce that she and her son have immediately self quarantined as a matter of caution.

“While in Lucknow, I attended a dinner with my son Dushyant & his in-laws. Kanika, who has unfortunately tested positive for #Covid19 was also a guest. As a matter of abundant caution, my son & I have immediately self-quarantined and we’re taking all necessary precautions,” she tweeted.

According to media reports, Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh and Congress leader Jitin Prasad were also present at the event.

Kanika Kapoor has become the first Bollywood celebrity to test positive for coronavirus in the country and says she's under complete quarantine and medical care. There were reports that the singer landed in Lucknow from the United Kingdom and was admitted in a city hospital after she showed signs of flu.

In a statement released on Instagram, the ‘Baby Doll’ singer said: For the past 4 days I have had signs of flu, I got myself tested and it came positive for covid-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward.”
