COVID-19: Patient tests positive at Mumbai hospital; may have infected 55 staff, others

A positive coronavirus case came to light at Mumbai's P.D. Hinduja Hospital

A positive coronavirus case came to light at Mumbai's P.D. Hinduja Hospital on Friday evening.

Following this, all the patients were told to leave the hospital as early as possible, and the doctors were being placed in isolation.

As per reports, the person who tested positive had earlier consulted one of the doctors in the hospital, but did not disclose his recent visit to Dubai. He is suspected to have infected around 55 staff members of the hospital and others. All of them are awaiting test results.

As per the statement released by P.D. Hinduja Hospital and Research Centre, “Inspite of following all precautionary measures as per government guidelines, one of the admitted patients in the hospital was tested positive for COVID-19 last night. In view of this, the hospital has been following the advice of the concerned team at MCGM and based on their advice all protocols were activated. As per guidelines, the patient was shifted to Kasturba Hospital. The hospital is taking all necessary steps to ensure safety of its medical, non- medical staff and patients as per government guidelines.”

The patient was rushed to Kasturba hospital.
