Compensation of Rs 10 lakh is being given to families of those who lost their lives

Over Rs 2.15 crore has been disbursed by the Delhi government so far as compensation to victims of the communal violence in the national capital, which includes 29 claims made by the next of kin of those who died in the violence and 46 cases of complete damage to residential property.

According to data shared by the Delhi government, as of March 6, a total amount of Rs 2,15,67,500 has been disbursed as compensation to the riot victims.

In all, the authorities received 29 claims of compensation was made by the next of kin of those who died in the riots, and money was disbursed in all the cases. Compensation has been given in all 45 claims relating to severe injury. A total of 21 claims about minor injury were made and they are yet to be verified.

A total of 46 claims were made relating to complete damage to the household, and compensation has been paid to all the claimants. Compensation has been paid in 159 out of the 173 claims made for substantial damage to residential property, and four out of 49 applications made for relief towards minor damage to the household.

A total of 476 claims have been made for relief for damage done to shops during the riot, and so far, compensation has not been paid in any of the cases.

A compensation of Rs 10 lakh, including an ex-gratia amount of Rs one lakh, is being given to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the violence.

In cases of complete damage to residential properties, a compensation of Rs 4 lakh is being provided to the owner of each floor and Rs 1 lakh for loss of household items is being divided amongst the tenants of that floor. A compensation of Rs 1 lakh is being provided for complete loot of household goods in residential units and Rs 50,000 for partial loot. Compensation of up to Rs 10 lakh is being given to schools with an enrollment of more than 1000 students which were damaged during the riots.

In case of substantial damage to a residential property, a compensation amount of Rs 2 lakh for damage to the structure is being paid, to be divided amongst the owners of the floor, and Rs 50,000 for loss of household items shall be divided amongst the occupants of that floor.

Immediate relief of Rs 25,000 is being given for minor damage to residential units, for each floor, to be divided amongst the occupants.
