A scientist with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was found murdered in his flat in Hyderabad, police said.

S. Suresh, a native of Kerala, was found dead in his flat at Annapurna Apartment in Ameerpet area after failing to report to work on Tuesday. His colleagues tried reaching him on his mobile phone, but when he didn't respond, they called his wife Indira, who is a bank employee in Chennai.

Indira and some other family members rushed to Hyderabad, and with the help of the police, broke into the flat to find the body of the 56-year-old scientist.

Police suspected foul play as they found that the victim was hit on the head with a heavy object which is believed to the cause of death. Cops are investigating the matter and have gathered clues from the scene.

Police also said that they were scanning the CCTV footage of the apartment complex that could give further clues as they investigate.

According to reports, Suresh had been living in Hyderabad for 20 years, and was living alone in his Ameerpet home. His wife, who had been working here previously, was transferred to Chennai in 2005. They have a son who is settled in the US and a daughter who lives in Delhi.
