A day after Pragya Singh Thakur left the Bharatiya Janata Party red-faced after her remarks on toilets and drains, the Bhopal MP was summoned to party headquarters in Delhi on Monday. According to reports, BJP working president J.P. Nadda expressed his strong displeasure over her remarks and asked her to refrain from making controversial statements.
Thakur, an accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case who is currently out on bail, refused to respond to media after her meeting with the party leadership.
On Sunday, she had embarrassed the BJP after her statements that an MP is elected to the Parliament not to clean toilets and drains.

During an interaction with BJP supporters at Sehore in Madhya Pradesh, she said: "We have not been elected to clean your drains or toilets. The work which we are supposed to do and are elected for, we will do it honestly. This we had said in the past, saying it today and stick to it in future as well."
Her comments were seen to be mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat' campaign.
The saffron-clad MP is known for courting controversies ever since she joined the BJP in April, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. During the poll campaign she had hailed Mahatma Gandhi's killer Nathuram Godse as a "patriot", prompting the BJP leadership to issue a showcause notice to her.
Thakur again stirred up a row when she claimed that Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare was killed in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks due to her "curse" as she was "tortured" by police in custody. She later tendered an apology.
