The cyber cell of Mumbai city police has filed an FIR against a group of people for allegedly circulating a video on Tik Tok with objectionable statements on the recent death of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand.

Ansari was attacked by a mob in Kharsawan district on suspicion of theft on June 18. He succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital on June 22. His family had alleged that the attack was communal and that he was made to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Jai Hanuman'.

According to police, five members of a Tik Tok group shot a video in support of Ansari and uploaded it on Tik Tok. The video, which eventually went viral, was also posted on Twitter, prompting a few social media users to inform the Mumbai police. After reviewing the video, the police filed an FIR against five Tik Tok users on Monday evening.

"You may have killed that innocent Tabrez Ansari, but tomorrow if his son takes revenge, do not say that all Muslims are terrorists," the youth were heard saying in the video.

A case has been registered under sections 153-A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

Shiv Sena activist Ramesh Solanki, who had filed a complaint with the Mumbai police, said the Tik Tok has deleted the video and also suspended the accounts of three people who allegedly circulated it.
