Congress leader Hardik Patel was slapped by an unidentified man at a public meeting in Gujarat on Friday.
Hardik was addressing a gathering at a Jan Aakrosh Sabha in Surendranagar district of Gujarat.
Visuals showed Hardik on stage delivering his speech. A man soon approached the Congress leader from his right and slapped him. The man then went on to berate Hardik. Other Congress workers intervened and came to Hardik's aid. The man was restrained and taken away from the venue.
The man who slapped Hardik was detained.
According to Surendranagar SP, Mahendra Bagadia, the man is yet to be identified.
"We are yet to investigate who the man was and why he slapped Hardik. No one has lodged a complaint with us yet. We are investigating the matter," said Bagadia.
