Next UGC-NET exam to be in June 2019, registration from March 1

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the next UGC-NET in June 2019. The exam will be conducted across seven days from June 20 to June 28. 

The NTA has informed that both the UGC-NET for Assistant Professor and for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor will be held in June 2019. The test will consist of two papers. Both the papers will be conducted in a single three-hour duration.

This will be the second time that NTA would conduct the UGC-NET. The first was in December 2018. UGC NET exam, conducted to determine a candidate's eligibility for Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), was conducted by the CBSE until recently. 

Candidates will have to register for June 2019 UGC-NET in March. The registration starts from March 1 and ends on March 30. The admit cards for UGC-NET exams would be out on May 15. UGC-NET is a computer-based exam. The results of June 2019 UGC-NET would be out on July 9.

The award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor both or the eligibility for both only depends on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of NET in aggregate. However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor are not to be considered for award of JRF. Candidates who qualify UGC-NET for eligibility for Assistant Professor are governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.
