The buzz around Jailer 2 keeps building astronomically with each passing day. Sequel to the 2023 mega blockbuster Jailer, this Rajinikanth-starrer is coming with double the excitement and star cast. While Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar reprise their roles from the first part, there are more cameos on the way in Jailer 2.
While there aren't any official reports yet, it is strongly speculated that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be playing a strong cameo in Jailer 2. Contrary to certain fan theories, he won't be playing a gangster but instead, will be essaying the role of a close friend to Rajinikanth's character.
It will be the second time that Shah Rukh will share screen with Rajinikanth after the Ra.One where Kollywood's Thalaivar essayed a special appearance as Chitti Robot. More than 80 percent of the shoot is done for Jailer 2 and the crew is currently moving towards the final schedule of the film. Shah Rukh is expected to join Rajinikanth, Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar in this schedule.
Director Nelson has recently been busy due to the promo work for the historic Kamal Haasan-Rajinikanth project which will also be helmed by him. Jailer 2 was initially slated for a release in August 2026, replicating the same release window of its predecessor but recently, the makers decided to prepone the date.
As per latest buzz, Jailer 2 will release on June 12, 2026 and is expected to take an unprecedented opening at the box office.
