Madhya Pradesh has witnessed a tight neck-and-neck contest between the BJP and the Congress as counting progressed on Tuesday for the elections to the state assembly. Currently, the BJP is leading in 111 seats, while the Congress in 108.

However, the lead trends have been alternating between the Congress and the BJP ever since counting commenced in the morning. The counting of votes has entered the 10th round with another 12 to go. Hence, it will be too early to predict the popular mandate.

Incumbent Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is leading comfortably in Budhni by over 19,000 votes. Chouhan has garnered 33,281 votes while his opponent Congress's Arun Yadav has 13,988.

In Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia has secured 25,795 votes against Congress's Siddharth Ladha who has 12,246, as per the figures released by the Election Commission.

Former chief minister and BJP veteran Babulal Gaur's daughter Krishna Gaur has recorded a massive lead over Congress's Girish Sharma in Govindpura. Gaur has secured 20,336 votes against Sharma's 9,398.

In Churhat, Madhya Pradesh opposition leader Ajay Singh is trailing BJP's Shardendu Tiwari by 2,582 votes. The Congress is leading in Raghogarh where the party has fielded Digvijaya Singh's son Jaivardhan against the BJP's Bhupendra Raghuvanshi.
