With water level continuing to rise in Aluva region of Ernakulam, rescue and evacuation efforts are on in the area. Metro services have been halted since Thursday morning due to flooding. The Kerala government has informed that a special team of Air Force is heading to Aluva for evacuation operations.
Companypady area in Aluva is the worst affected in the region. Thousands of people, including children and elderly, have been stranded in Aluva region. More than 1,000 families have been evacuated to shelter homes. Aluva-Angamaly route has been inundated. Traffic has been halted in the route.
Patients are being evacuated from hospitals in Aluva. Water has entered the shops in the region.
People staying in about half-a-kilometre away from Companypady main road, where flood water has reached have been asked to evacuate.
