In a gruesome incident, a four-year-old nursey kid was mercilessly caned by a teacher in Telangana for not paying school fees. The child's parents have filed a complaint against the school with the local police under the Juvenile Justice Act.

According to Mirror Now, the four-year-old was a beaten up by a teacher at a school in Telangana's Meerpet. The state education department has taken cognizance of the incident.

The incident comes to light amid a number of occurences being reported across the country where teachers have been asked to punish children defaulting on their school fees. Lack of regulations of private school fees has led to school managements increasing academic fees unscrupulously.

Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh and Assam governments recently brought in some regulations to check the exorbitant fees charged by private schools. The Uttar Pradesh government approved a bill last week with the objective of checking arbitrary fee hikes by private schools affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and the UP Board of Secondary Education.

Incidentally, the Assam assembly, too, unanimously passed a bill on April 6 to regulate fees of private schools. The Assam bill has the provision to slap a penalty of upto Rs 10 lakh as well withdrawal of registration for violators.
