The Delhi government launched the Vaya Vandana scheme, offering free treatment worth up to Rs 10 lakh to citizens aged 70 years and above in the city.
As per the Delhi government, this initiative offers free medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh with diagnostics, medicines, and hospitalisation for all residents aged 70 and above. To avail the benefits, people need to furnish their Aadhaar card and proof of Delhi residency.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri distributed the first Vaya Vandana cards to beneficiaries at an event in New Delhi.
Under this scheme, yearly medical assistance worth Rs 5 lakh will be provided free of cost. Additionally, Rs 5 lakh coverage will be provided under the Delhi government's scheme, making the total health cover Rs 10 lakh, PTI reported.
"More than 100 hospitals in the city are included in the scheme and over 30,000 registered for cashless treatment. This is a significant step forward," said the CM.
The CM also mentioned that the scheme is portable, which means any Delhi resident, even if they are outside the city, can be a part of the scheme. Each registered senior citizen will be provided with a unique health card that will store their health records. Health tests for the registered individuals will also be conducted free of cost in Delhi.
