How Jimmy Fallon channelled Bob Dylan to take on Trump

If there is one song that defines the turbulent 60s, it is singer-songwriter Bob Dylan's The Times They Are a-Changin' , a protest rhyme that would go on to define the growing clamour for change among youngsters at the time. In a special edition of Tonight Show, Fallon impersonated the folk singer—replete with his nasal voice, harmonica, dark sunglasses and scraggy hair—for a stunning rendition of The Times post-Superbowl.

The lyrics were changed to reflect the modern times, with hat tips to social media hashtags, post-truth conundrum and athletes like Colin Kaepernick who was criticised for taking a knee during the US national anthem.

Come gather round people wherever you roam

And admit that our country don’t feel like our home

And that silence speaks louder than those who condone

If a tweet to you is worth favin’

Then lift up your voices and put down your phones

For the times they are a-changin’

With Trump's ascendancy, the playful Jimmy Fallon, who hosts NBC's Tonight Show, has been forced to change his tune and involve biting political performances in his art. This is not the first time he has imitated musicians in his act. One of his more enjoyable performances included a duet with Canadian musician Neil Young for his hit song Old Man.
