Suriya-starrer Scene on Saturday continued its strong Diwali-weekend earnings at the box office, a day after its release on Friday.
The action comedy flick earned ₹12.54 crore in India net earnings across 4,248 shows so far on its second day in cinemas, as per box office tracker Sacnilk.
The Tamil screenings have again contributed the most to this, with ₹10.22 crore collected from 3,219 shows, while the ones in Telugu raked in ₹2.32 crore over 1,029 shows.
This brings its total India gross collection to ₹37.05 crore, while its total India net earnings come to ₹31.69 crore so far.
The film, which also stars Mollywood actors Naslen K. Gafoor and Nazriya Nazim, had earlier seen a strong response from audiences in Keralam, who contributed roughly ₹5-6 crore to the film's earnings on its first day.
This is largely attributed to director Jithu Madhavan’s popularity among audiences in the state after his earlier films like Romancham and Aavesham went on to become major hits.
This pushed the film's release-day haul (India net) to ₹19.15 crore across 6,167 shows, while India gross earnings reached ₹22.25 crore. That India net figure included ₹16.15 crore from 4,878 Tamil screenings and ₹3 crore from 1,289 Telugu shows.
By the end of its first day, Scene had garnered ₹34.25 crore in worldwide gross collection, with Sacnilk estimates showing that as many as estimated 14.31 lakh tickets had been sold for the film that day. The worldwide gross collection after day two's earnings is still awaited.
This means that Scene has already earned more than other recent Suriya films in theatres, such as Karuppu, which had notched ₹17.93 crore in India gross collection, while its India net collection reached ₹15.50 crore, and Vishwanath and Sons, which had managed to earn ₹17.74 crore in India gross collections and ₹15.35 crore in India net earnings.
Notably, day two's strong earnings also came after the film saw strong advance bookings, with ₹26.05 crore in advance ticket bookings—or ₹22.92 crore without block seats—after 15.96 lakh tickets were booked across 18,740 shows for the Diwali weekend.
