Fans of Apple TV+'s "Bad Monkey" have plenty to look forward to as the popular crime-comedy series returns for a second season on Wednesday, December 2, 2026.

Starring Vince Vaughn as the unconventional detective Andrew Yancy, the new season promises another entertaining mix of crime, comedy, colourful characters and the unusual situations that make Florida such a fascinating setting.

Season 2 will have 10 episodes and will premiere exclusively on Apple TV+. The first episode arrives on December 2, followed by a new episode every Wednesday. The season finale is scheduled for February 3, 2027.

Unlike some television shows that introduce completely new characters and stories each season, "Bad Monkey" will continue following the lives of its familiar characters. Their relationships, personal struggles and unfinished stories from Season 1 will remain integral to the show.

The biggest change will be the central crime mystery. In the first season, Yancy investigated the discovery of a severed arm. This time, he witnesses the murder of a high-profile fixer, which draws him into a dangerous conflict between rival groups. To solve the case, he teams up with a serious and methodical forensic accountant.

Yancy's personal life will also continue to develop. Still suspended, the ex-detective remains determined to get his badge back. He must also deal with his ageing father and the unresolved romantic tension with Dr Rosa Campesino.

Several familiar faces will return for the new season, including Natalie Martinez as Rosa Campesino, Charlotte Lawrence as Caitlin and John Ortiz as Rogelio. The series will also introduce two major regular cast additions: John Malkovich and Yvonne Strahovski. Malkovich will play a brilliant mob boss whose involvement in the new crime brings further danger to Yancy's investigation.

Interestingly, Season 2 will move away from the books that inspired the series. Author Carl Hiaasen wrote two novels featuring Andrew Yancy: "Bad Monkey" and "Razor Girl". The first season closely followed the events of the first book. The second novel is a direct sequel that follows Yancy as he becomes involved in a bizarre kidnapping case involving a woman who deliberately stages car accidents as part of a scam.

Showrunner Bill Lawrence initially considered adapting "Razor Girl" for the second season. However, he eventually changed direction because the book's storyline would have required removing many of the characters introduced in the first season. Instead, the creative team decided to develop an original story. This approach helps retain the original cast while giving viewers a completely new mystery to enjoy.
