After seeing strong advance ticket sales just before the Diwali weekend, Suriya-starrer Scene released in theatres on Friday.

Despite competition from films like Ramayana: Rise of a Legend and Mookuthi Amman 2, Jithu Madhavan's action comedy film managed to collect ₹14.34 crore in India gross collections across 4,747 shows so far on its release day, as per box office tracker Sacnilk.

Net earnings reached ₹12.15 crore so far, which includes a whopping ₹10.37 crore from shows in Tamil, and just ₹1.78 crore from the Telugu screenings.

This is quite close to the total day one collection for Suriya's Karuppu, which had notched ₹17.93 crore in India gross collection, while its India net collection reached ₹15.50 crore.

This means that the film needs to cross just ₹3.35 crore in India net collection on Friday to beat the numbers set by Karuppu.

The advance booking numbers show that the Suriya-starrer had garnered ₹26.05 crore in advance ticket bookings—or ₹22.92 crore without block seats—after 15.96 lakh tickets were booked across 18,740 shows.

However, this figure was not for day one, but for the whole of the Diwali weekend.

Out of this, it collected ₹12.17 crore in advance bookings for the release day alone, which accounted for 47 per cent of the total advance bookings.

In contrast, Ramayana collected an India net of ₹64.85 crore across 25,200 shows—of which ₹2.60 crore had been from Tamil screenings—while India gross earnings soared to ₹77.50 crore. Mookuthi Amman 2 earned just ₹1.19 crore in India net collection and a marginally higher ₹1.40 crore in India gross collection.
