"We have not understood the complete picture so far," Onmanorama quoted a police officer as saying. "The accused persons are saying another version of the story. But we are yet to verify that and more details cannot be divulged now."
Actor-producer Bibin Perumpally, known for his roles in Lokah: Chandra - Chapter 1, Seetharamam, King of Kotha and Rorschach, is the prime accused. He has collaborated with major production houses like Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films. Athulya Chandra, 30, who appeared in Dies Irae, Uyir and Gaanagandharvan, is the third accused.
The doctor, 41, told police that Athulya was an acquaintance and that she called him to an apartment in Ponnurunni, Kadavanthra, on the pretext of a medical emergency involving her mother's younger sister.
When he arrived at the apartment around 6.30 pm, he was locked in a room and beaten up by the accused. The FIR claimed that actor Bibin slapped the doctor on his left cheek and continuously punched him in the ribs. They also took his valuables, including two of his phones, a smartwatch and a pair of earphones worth ₹3.25 lakh in total.
The accused also threatened the doctor, saying they will file a false police complaint, claiming he tried to sexually assault the patient by giving drugs.
Athulya also allegedly abused the doctor using vulgar language and even threatened to kill him, states the FIR.
