"Slow Horses" Seasons 7 and 8 have been officially confirmed, giving fans of Apple TV+'s popular spy thriller another reason to celebrate. Following the end of Season 6 on October 21, 2026, the series is preparing to return with another dangerous mission for Jackson Lamb and his team of rejected MI5 agents.
Season 6 premiered on September 16, 2026, ran for six episodes, and ended on October 21, 2026.
Although Apple TV+ has not announced an official release date for Season 7, September 2027 looks like a likely window. The show has followed a regular yearly release pattern, with Seasons 4, 5 and 6 all arriving in September.
Season 7 will adapt "Bad Actors", the eighth novel in Mick Herron's "Slough House" book series. Unlike Season 6, which combined elements from two novels, the upcoming season will focus on a single book.
The story begins when Dr Sophie de Greer, a government expert and ‘superforecaster’, mysteriously disappears from Downing Street. Her disappearance creates a political crisis that Anthony Sparrow, an adviser to the prime minister, tries to exploit. Sparrow hopes to use the situation to gain political power and target MI5, including its First Desk, Diana Taverner.
Meanwhile, Jackson Lamb and his team must uncover a dangerous Russian intelligence plot and identify a mole operating at the highest levels of the British government. The mission promises political tension, international espionage and the dark humour that has made "Slow Horses" popular.
Gary Oldman is confirmed to return as Jackson Lamb, alongside Jack Lowden as River Cartwright, Kristin Scott Thomas as Diana Taverner and Saskia Reeves as Catherine Standish.
Other returning cast members include Rosalind Eleazar as Louisa Guy, Christopher Chung as Roddy Ho, Aimee-Ffion Edwards as Shirley Dander, Tom Brooke as J.K. Coe, Jonathan Pryce as David Cartwright and Hugo Weaving as Frank Harkness.
Interestingly, James Callis will also reprise his role as former MI5 Director-General Claude Whelan, an important character in the "Bad Actors" storyline.
New additions include Joshua McGuire as political antagonist Anthony Sparrow, along with Varada Sethu, Tuppence Middleton, Ethan Moorhouse and Merab Ninidze.
The aftermath of Season 6 is also expected to shape the new season, particularly following a major character's death and the cliffhanger involving River Cartwright.
Meanwhile, "Slow Horses" Season 8 will adapt Mick Herron's ninth novel, "Clown Town", and is expected to explore an intense conflict between Jackson Lamb and Diana Taverner.
Mick Herron's "Slough House" (Slow Horses) book series comprises 9 main novels and 5 companion novellas.
