The critically acclaimed Tamil crime drama "Dorothy", directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is set to premiere on Netflix on October 23, 2026. The film will be available in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

It stars Keerthy Suresh, Sananth and Rishikanth in lead roles, with music composed by legendary maestro Ilaiyaraaja. Due to its intense themes and raw storytelling, the film has received an A certificate, which restricted its theatrical viewing strictly to adults. (Read our review here.)

Before its digital release, "Dorothy" did decent business in theatres, considering its themes and scale. It earned approximately ₹17.62 crore in gross collections in India, while its estimated worldwide earnings are close to ₹18 crore.

According to box-office trackers such as Sacnilk, the film collected around ₹15.20 crore in India net collections. It opened with ₹0.90 crore on its first day but gained momentum over the weekend due to strong word-of-mouth, reaching ₹1.40 crore on Day 3. Its opening weekend gross stood at ₹4.15 crore.

Tamil Nadu contributed the largest share of its earnings, with net collections exceeding ₹9.42 crore. Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh-Telangana also contributed to the film's box-office performance. Although it did not break major commercial records, the film attracted attention for its intense themes and screening at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

"Dorothy" brings together actors who have previously worked with Subbaraj. Sananth has collaborated with the director on several projects, including "Mercury", "Petta" and "Mahaan". Their association began with smaller projects and grew into more significant roles over the years. Keerthy Suresh previously worked with Subbaraj's production banner, Stone Bench Films, on the 2020 mystery thriller "Penguin". However, "Dorothy" marks her first collaboration with Subbaraj in an acting capacity. Rishikanth (also noted for "Modha Rathri") is a newer addition to Subbaraj's regular circle of collaborators.
