Vijay Sethupathi-starrer "Baththa" continued its strong run at the box office on Sunday, October 4, 2026. On Day 4, the Tamil action-drama collected a net ₹3.10 crore in India from 1,290 shows. With this, the film’s total India net collection has reached ₹10.05 crore, while its gross collection stands at ₹11.68 crore.

Directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan, "Baththa" was released in theatres on October 1. Although the film had a modest opening day, positive audience feedback and strong word-of-mouth helped it gain momentum over the weekend.

The film collected around ₹1.73 crore net on its first day in India, with Tamil Nadu contributing nearly ₹1.4 crore. The numbers improved sharply on Friday, taking the two-day net total to ₹4.88 crore. On Saturday, "Baththa" added another ₹2.75 crore net, pushing its India gross collection to ₹9.37 crore by early Sunday.

Sunday brought another strong result. The film earned ₹3.10 crore net across 1,290 shows, helping it cross the ₹10 crore net mark within four days. The steady rise across the opening weekend suggests that the film is benefiting from audience support rather than relying only on a strong opening.

Compared with Vijay Sethupathi’s biggest recent successes, however, "Baththa" is currently performing at a more moderate level. Its first two days brought in around ₹4.20 crore net, well below his biggest hit "Maharaja", which earned ₹11.95 crore during the same period. "Viduthalai Part 2", in which Sethupathi played a parallel lead, also opened much higher at around ₹16 crore net in its first two days. Meanwhile, "Ace", another recent solo release, collected around ₹2.62 crore over its first two days.

In terms of numbers, the actor's benchmark still remains "Maharaja". Sethupathi’s 50th film went on to attain unprecedented commercial success, eventually crossing ₹100 crore and reaching more than ₹190 crore worldwide. "Baththa" is currently nowhere near those numbers, but its weekend growth suggests a different trajectory.

The film’s performance also recalls Sethupathi’s earlier cult comedies, such as "Soodhu Kavvum" and "Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom" (from the same director). Those films had smaller releases and took longer to reach major box-office milestones. Considering today’s wider theatrical market and higher ticket prices, "Baththa" appears to be following the path of a healthy mid-budget hit rather than a blockbuster. The film’s next challenge will be maintaining its momentum during the weekdays.
