Netflix’s "All of Us Are Dead" is slowly approaching the release of its long-awaited second season. Filming for Season 2 has officially finished, and the series is now in post-production. The eight-episode season is currently expected to arrive in early 2027, most likely around January or February. Although there has been some speculation about a surprise release in late 2026, a 2027 launch remains the expected window.
Production has taken several years because of the show’s large scale, demanding action scenes and extensive visual effects. Netflix renewed the series for a second season on June 6, 2022. After casting and script work were completed in 2025, filming officially began on July 23, 2025. The production continued for around seven months before wrapping on February 19, 2026.
A new setting and a bigger outbreak
Season 2 will reportedly move the story beyond the destroyed Hyosan High School. Much of the new season is expected to take place in Seoul, with Seoul National University becoming an important location. Nam On-jo, played by Park Ji-hu, is now a university student, giving the story a new setting and a different stage of life for the surviving characters.
However, the zombie threat has not disappeared. A new and more dangerous outbreak is expected to spread through the capital. The infection will reportedly evolve, creating a more powerful and unpredictable threat for the survivors.
Another major part of the story will be the return of the “hambies,” people who exist somewhere between humans and zombies. Choi Nam-ra, played by Cho Yi-hyun, is expected to have a much larger role as the story explores these unusual survivors and their connection to the infection.
Returning and new cast members
Several major Season 1 characters are returning. Park Ji-hu will reprise her role as Nam On-jo while Yoon Chan-young returns as Lee Cheong-san. Cho Yi-hyun will once again play Choi Nam-ra, and Lomon will return as Lee Su-hyeok.
The new season will also introduce several new characters. Lee Min-jae joins the cast as Yong Ma-ru, Kim Si-eun plays So Ju-ran, and Yoon Ga-i appears as Lee Jong-ah. Roh Jae-won will play Han Doo-seok, an NIS team leader.
Why the wait has been so long
The lengthy production schedule reflects the scale of the series. Season 2 is expected to feature large action sequences, extensive CGI and complex visual effects. Since filming ended in February 2026, the production team has been working on editing, visual effects and sound design.
Notably, Season 1 became a major international success after its release. Per reports, it recorded 124.79 million hours viewed during its first three days and passed 474.2 million hours within its first 30 days. The series also reached number one in more than 60 countries and remained at the top of Netflix’s global rankings for three consecutive weeks.
