"Landman" Season 3 is officially in production for Paramount+. Cameras started rolling in Texas on September 24, 2026. Filming is taking place in Fort Worth and Haslet, continuing the series’ focus on the people and businesses at the centre of the oil industry.
Production was reportedly slightly delayed because of cast commitments and the intense Texas summer heat. Although there had been hopes that filming would begin earlier, production eventually got underway in late September. Paramount+ and members of the cast publicly confirmed the start of filming during the first week of October.
Because production is expected to continue through the first quarter of 2027, Season 3 is likely to arrive in the middle or later part of 2027. This would mark a change from the show’s earlier release pattern, as the first two seasons followed a more traditional November premiere schedule.
A new chapter for Tommy Norris
Season 3 will pick up directly from the major events of the Season 2 finale. Billy Bob Thornton returns as Tommy Norris, who is entering a very different stage of his career. The new season is expected to follow Tommy and the other characters as they try to build their own oil company from the ground up. Recently, actor James Jordan teased the same in an interview with MovieWeb. That new business could bring fresh opportunities, but it is also expected to create new rivalries and challenges.
Members of the cast have described the upcoming story as a fast-paced “roller coaster,” suggesting that the characters will face plenty of unexpected developments as they try to establish themselves in the competitive oil industry.
Returning cast and new faces
The main cast is returning for the third season. Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Ali Larter and Sam Elliott will all reprise their leading roles. The season will also introduce an important new character played by Michael Kelly, known for "House of Cards" and "Lioness". Kelly joins the series as William Crockett, a powerful figure who leads the world’s largest oil management company. His presence could create major competition for Tommy’s new business.
Several familiar actors have also been promoted to series regulars. Colm Feore returns as Nate, the M-Tex Oil attorney, while Mustafa Speaks will play Theodore “Boss” Ramone. Bobbi Salvör Menuez returns as Paigyn Meester, and Francesca Xuereb will also have a larger role. Alison Pill and Justin Kirk also constitute the ensemble.
The team behind 'Landman'
"Landman" was created by Taylor Sheridan and journalist Christian Wallace. Sheridan, who is also known for "Yellowstone" and "Mayor of Kingstown", serves as the show’s primary writer and showrunner.
The series is inspired by "Boomtown", the acclaimed 2019 Texas Monthly documentary podcast hosted and produced by Wallace. The show explores the people, companies and communities connected to the oil business in Texas.
Stephen Kay has directed most of the episodes, with Sheridan and Michael Friedman also contributing as directors. Robert McLachlan and Mike Parry serve as directors of photography, helping create the show’s distinctive look across West Texas oil fields and industrial locations.
Composer Andrew Lockington provides the dramatic musical score, while production designers Jorin Ostroska and Charisse Cardenas create the show’s corporate offices, oil rigs and other environments. Editors Chad Galster and John Coniglio handle the series’ editing, with John Papsidera serving as casting director.
The series is produced through a collaboration involving Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Taylor Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions. Executive producers include Sheridan and Wallace, along with David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, Dan Friedkin, Jason Hoch, J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt.
'Landman' in India
For Indian viewers, the first two seasons of "Landman" are streaming on JioHotstar, with both English and Hindi audio options.
With Season 3 now filming and production expected to continue into early 2027, fans will have to wait a little longer for the next chapter of Tommy Norris’ story. If the current production schedule stays on track, the new season is expected to premiere sometime in mid-to-late 2027.
