Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited film "Love & War" is set to arrive in theatres on January 21, 2027. The epic romantic war drama stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles and is one of the most anticipated Hindi films currently in production.
The makers released the first-look poster featuring Ranbir Kapoor on Sept. 24, 2026. In the striking image, he is seen driving a classic blue convertible, dressed in a vintage-inspired style. He sports a pencil moustache and slicked-back hair, while a bruised and bloodied arm hints at the violence and conflict at the heart of the story.
"Love & War" is described as an epic love triangle set against the backdrop of war. Reports suggest that Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal play Air Force officers whose lives become closely connected with Alia Bhatt’s character. The film combines romance, personal drama, and large-scale wartime action, reflecting Bhansali’s trademark interest in grand visual storytelling.
The film’s production has been a long and demanding process. Principal photography began on November 7, 2024. Over the following months, the team worked through several schedules, filming romance, drama, wedding sequences, and other major scenes on large sets in Mumbai. The three lead actors committed substantial blocks of time to the project.
The final major shooting schedule began on August 3, 2026, at Royal Palms in Goregaon, Mumbai. It included large dance sequences as well as major war scenes involving hundreds of background actors and stunt performers. Principal photography officially wrapped in early September 2026 after nearly two years of filming. The movie is now in post-production, although Bhansali has continued to oversee limited pick-up shoots to refine certain battle scenes and visual effects.
The official teaser is expected to arrive during Diwali in November 2026 and is reportedly planned to be attached to theatrical prints of "Ramayana: Part 1". The full trailer is expected in December 2026. The film will be released worldwide in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The project also brings together Bhansali and Ranbir Kapoor nearly two decades after "Saawariya", Kapoor’s Bollywood debut. It is Alia Bhatt’s second film with the director after "Gangubai Kathiawadi", while Vicky Kaushal is collaborating with Bhansali for the first time.
