Written and directed by Ra Karthik, "King 100" is set for a worldwide theatrical release on Thursday, December 24, during the Christmas weekend. The film is being produced by Annapurna Studios, in collaboration with Manam Enterprises.
The movie brings Nagarjuna together with Tabu, marking their much-awaited reunion after 28 years. The two actors were last seen together in the 1998 film "Aavida Maa Aavide". The cast also includes Sushmitha Bhat (who starred alongside Mammootty in "Dominic and the Ladies' Purse") and Aishwarya Rajesh.
Described as a commercial action film with strong emotional and family elements, "King 100" revolves around a father-daughter relationship and a dramatic rags-to-riches story. The film will reportedly use advanced de-aging technology to show Nagarjuna’s character at different stages of his life, from the age of 25 to 60.
The 1-minute-20-second first glimpse presents Nagarjuna as a powerful and stylish figure. The video opens with him casually whistling while driving a luxury sports car, immediately establishing his larger-than-life screen presence.
The visuals then move through images of enormous wealth and power, including piles of cash, gold bars and elite horse-racing tracks. However, his success comes with enemies. Scenes of riots, social unrest and government officials working against him suggest that the story will also have strong political undertones.
In another striking sequence, Nagarjuna plays the piano while appearing to control his vast empire. The teaser then takes an unexpected emotional turn. After a massive fire, he is shown in a more humble avatar, gently holding a crying newborn baby whom he has rescued.
The film’s central idea is captured in Nagarjuna’s powerful voiceover: "There are two types of people in this world: those who have money and those who don't. When I had no money, they called me a loser. When I had money, they called me a King. But this identity is more powerful than money. To uphold this identity, I have to keep running."
